The Bistrot rattan and resin chair is a replica of the Bagatelle rattan chair (plain). As its name suggests, it is woven with UV- and weather-resistant resin, rather than the natural rattan weave of the Bagatelle chair. While less authentic, it is more durable, withstanding both outdoor use and heavy use, making it well-suited for cafes and restaurants, as well as vacation rentals, bed-and-breakfasts, and more. The Bistrot rattan and resin chair nevertheless retains the inimitable charm of French-style rattan from the Belle Époque. It can be placed in a dining area, in front of a desk, on a veranda, in a sunroom, on a covered patio, and even outdoors on sunny days, thanks to its synthetic resin weave. This “outdoor” version of the Bagatelle rattan chair is just as at home indoors as it is outdoors, as the resin is extruded from a special material that replicates the irregular texture of natural fiber.

At the turn of the last century, rattan was in its golden age, as it was so easy to use that it lent itself to the scrolls, arabesques and intertwined shapes that were the hallmark of the Art Nouveau style. The charm of the afternoons under an arbour, walks in the botanical garden and cafés on the main boulevards is now part of our French way of life. KOK MAISON, with its Bagatelle collection, is now re-releasing the furniture that goes with it. Each model in this collection has its own design and its own lines, as if it had been individually aged, but the choice of a common finish ensures is coordinated with the others. A quick nod to the techniques of the time: the finishing nailing is entirely in brass.
