The Bruno armchair in just a few words

Extremely sturdy and comfortable, the Bruno natural rattan armchair is totally versatile: you can use it as an armchair in the living room or conservatory, and it is high enough to be used as a chair at the dining room table. With its rustic construction, it is also ideal to take for a short walk onto the terrace or into the garden on sunny days.

A little bit of history

The BRUNO rattan armchair was originally an armchair designed for Lyon's coffee terraces in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Designed and manufactured by Wuillème (formerly ""La Vannerie Caladoise"", which has, sadly, ceased trading) at Anse near Villefranche, it is, in fact, a new interpretation of the famous Coquille shell chair in natural rattan, a style icon of this period, but simplified and reinforced for intensive use: more binding (it is always the slightly weak point of a rattan armchair), wider and therefore less fragile rattan sticks, a single circle in rattan that is thicker than normal, and with the reinforced cross-over of the base positioned very low and well arched. It is also stackable. KOK have not changed anything from the original model, and the Bruno rattan armchair will delight not only people who are nostalgic for the best years of the cafés and brasseries of the ""Rue de la Ré"" in Lyon, but those who love things that are well designed and made to last.

Features and options

Frame, rattan sticks and binding in natural unpeeled rattan. All 4 feet are finished with nylon studs. Overall dimensions: height 81cm x width 62cm x depth 67 cm - seat height 43 cm, seat width 39cm, seat depth 37cm. Weight 4 kg. Indonesian manufacture. Knots, black spots, bending marks and irregularities in appearance are the normal things you expect to see in an unpeeled raw material. It is this bark, which is naturally imperfect, that gives the product much of its charm and rusticity.

The Bruno rattan armchair can be optionally fitted with a cushion available in several colours, but can also be used without it. If you prefer a collection with more of a ""living room armchair"" feel, you will probably like the Olivier model, designed at the same time and for the same use as the ""Bruno"", so just as robust, but with a lower seat.
