The CORRIDOR rattan coffee table with large HPL top, designed by Guillaume Delvigne for Orchid Edition, incorporates several traditional rattan crafting techniques:
- a large-diameter rattan cane structure, made from vines that can grow to over 100m in length in the wild
- a magazine rack woven from rattan pith, in the style of a basket, and a glass top, a typical 1950s approach brought up to date.
The boldness of contemporary rattan design combined with traditional craftsmanship is fully reflected in the CORRIDOR rattan table with an 18 mm thick HPL laminated particle board top. Whether used as a coffee table, small pedestal table, side table, or even a bedside table, the CORRIDOR table with laminated top fits easily anywhere.
"Guillaume Delvigne's work immediately appealed to us because we felt a desire to build furniture out of rattan and nothing but rattan. Guillaume used all the by-products made from rattan cane: braided rattan core like the baskets, marquetry for flat surfaces reminiscent of floor mats, etc. The in-depth study of traditional designs allowed him to create solid structures with innovative shapes from the start.
I love to move furniture around, I particularly like coffee tables to move around the living room. Together as nesting tables or combined with other materials, CORRIDOR coffee tables are light, practical and playful." Tina Ledi
