Bianka willow armchair

The Bianka willow armchair is the white lacquered version of the Ilona or Lora armchair, which we also offer. This family of willow armchairs comes from Hungary and is historically the heir of the great wickerwork tradition of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. A few craftsmen still perpetuate this typical know-how by making several versions of this armchair. The "Bianka" model, available in white lacquer, gives us a fresher and brighter version of the willow, ideal for a veranda, a winter garden or a country house. The Bianka willow armchair is quite large (see dimensions below), but still very light and easy to move. The seat height of 43 cm makes it very accessible for people who have difficulty standing up.

Willow, rattan, what's the difference?

Rattan is a tropical plant (85% from Indonesia) related to the palm family that produces a "cane" that is easy to bend (steam). Rattan allows for tighter curves and finer weaves than willow, but being less rigid, it requires a heavier frame.

Willow grows easily throughout Europe. It does not require any plant protection products or fertilisers. The harvest is completely regenerated each year, so it is a very easily renewable resource. Peeled hot ("buff" willow with natural copper tones) or cold ("white" willow), it is most often presented untreated, the willow fibre leaving its smooth and satiny surface "au naturel", but it can be dyed or lacquered, as is the case here with the Bianka model.

Characteristics and options

Overall dimensions: height 88 x width 68 x length 69, seat at 43cm, armrests at 65cm. Weight 4.8 kg. Structure, nets, arches, braids and ligatures in willow and white lacquered willow sticks. European manufacture. The Bianka willow armchair is sold here without, but it is also available with its matching cushion in several fabric variants.

A willow chair can be used on a veranda, in a conservatory or occasionally outdoors in good weather, but it cannot be considered garden furniture. It is not made to withstand bad weather, humidity, frost, or too long exposure to the sun. The Lora chair is also hand-woven. Dimensional differences of 1 to 2 cm may occur, no two are exactly alike.

Maintenance: dust with a damp cloth, avoid commercial cleaning products. In case of heavy soiling, clean with a sponge and soap.
