The Saigon wicker dining chair embodies the union of two noble materials: rattan wicker and teak. Teak, a noble and precious wood, needs no introduction, but few people are aware of the technical expertise behind rattan wickerwork. Each strand is first peeled from a rattan cane (this is actually its natural bark), and is then planed and calibrated to achieve a uniform profile. Next comes the weaving process, which can be done mechanically (on specialized looms) or by hand. The critical factor is the quality of the rattan cane. Only the finest varieties are used in the manufacture of the Saigon rattan-woven dining chair. The Saigon rattan-woven dining chair is one of the few on the market to feature such fine weaving.
